A Libertarian in Leftywood

existential-al:

Political Compass clarifies the illusion of choice in this election.
“This is a US election that defies logic and brings the nation closer towards a one-party state masquerading as a two-party state.”

While I have made it clear, in both my posts on my blog and on the election blog this week, that there’s scant difference between Romney and Obama, this chart is ridiculous. Which is expected since it’s based (ostensibly, though it could be completely arbitrary since no answers are offered) on a quiz that I have already noted is filled with asinine and irrelevant questions with either no legitimate responses or that have nothing to do with an individual’s opinion regarding the state’s role in society.
Jill Stein, who advocates for an absolutely enormous state, is the least authoritarian? Gary Johnson - who supports gay marriage, is against the war on drugs, and is pro-choice - is the farthest right?
It is important to point out the great similarities between Romney and Obama, but this chart’s biased determinations ultimately renders categorizations meaningless.
